Mayor Saffo Again Proclaimed October as Dyslexia Awareness Month

Thank you Mayor Bill Saffo for once again proclaiming October Dyslexia Awareness Month.

Dyslexia is a language-based learning disability that affects the way the brain processes information, causing difficulties with specific language skills, particularly reading. Individuals with dyslexia often struggle with skills such as spelling, writing, and pronouncing words.

Dyslexia is a lifelong condition, affecting approximately one in five people, but with proper supports, many people with dyslexia can learn to read and write well. Early identification and treatment is the key to helping individuals with dyslexia achieve in school and in life.

Dyslexia Awareness Month was created by The International Dyslexia Association and takes place over the month of October each year. For more information on how you can help promote #dyslexiaawareness, visit their website at https://dyslexiaida.org.
