Nearly 200 people were in attendance for The Hill School of Wilmington’s 2023 Oyster Roast & Toast. The dinner and auction took place on March 10th at the Watson College of Education at UNCW and raised considerable funds to support program operations, financial aid, and outreach in the community. This year’s event included live music from local band Masonboro Sound, as well as silent and live auctions.

The auctions consisted of over 70 donated products and services from various artists and businesses throughout the community. Live auction items included a diamond necklace, a

vacation package to Montreat, NC, and original art pieces from local artists Chip Hemingway and Elizabeth Singletary. These were all in addition to two pieces of original art lovingly created by Hill School students.

Executive Director, Susan Harrell was overwhelmed by the event's success, “We are thrilled with and grateful for the support of our fundraiser from our community! The Hill School of Wilmington is a significant resource for students with language-based learning disabilities and/or ADHD, and this event helps us continue to provide explicit, multisensory, individualized instruction to students in the greater Wilmington community. All who contributed to this event have made an impact on struggling readers in our school, tutoring program, or outreach efforts.”

The overwhelming success of this year’s "Oyster Roast & Toast" could not have been possible without the help of the many volunteers who planned and executed the event and the many individuals and businesses who sponsored the event or donated auction items - we are so appreciative!
