2024-25 Annual Report

You help us change lives...

Dear Hill School Friends,

Transformation is an ordinary word until you see it happen.

At Hill, transformation is not an idea - it is a series of small, exacting changes that add up to a child’s future: a child who once froze when asked to read aloud now reading to her grandmother; a child who once dreaded homework now taking pride in finishing assignments; a family who once spent evenings struggling now sharing peaceful time together. These are not abstractions - they are the daily results of work done with purpose and precision.

How does this happen? Our teaching rests on a multisensory, structured approach to language. It breaks reading and writing into clear, sequential skills and teaches them explicitly and deliberately. With small classrooms and individualized instruction, our teachers meet each child where they are. Frustration becomes understanding, and understanding becomes confidence.

We celebrate the strengths that come with learning differences. Students with dyslexia and ADHD often bring exceptional strengths: creative problem-solving, resilience, and an ability to persist when others give up. At Hill, we teach to their needs and to their gifts - because transformation endures only when it is whole-child.

A parent wrote to us in a way that is so moving:

“Susan, where do I begin? … You have given my precious child a place to learn and grow in safety and

love that meets his needs. Thank you for giving Victor the confidence to spread his wings and fly.”

This Thanksgiving, we invite you to help us extend these transformations to more children and families. Your gift sustains scholarships, equips classrooms, supports teacher training, and fuels the expansion that will let us welcome more students who need us.

If you believe, as we do, that the right instruction at the right time can rewrite a child’s story, please consider a gift this season. Together, we can create lasting transformations - one student at a time.

With appreciation,

Susan M. Harrell
