Admissions

ADMISSIONS AT THE HILL SCHOOL OF WILMINGTON

Applicants to HSW must have been diagnosed with learning disabilities and/or attention deficit disorders by a licensed psychologist, have average to above average potential, and should not have primary emotional or behavioral difficulties.  Students receive intensive, individualized remediation in a setting of no more than four students per teacher.

Tuition for the 2017-18 Academic Year is $10,121.00.  TUITION INFORMATION

School tuition and fees:

  • may be tax-deductible as medical expenses. Children who have been diagnosed as having a specific learning disability or attention deficit disorder may qualify for deductions under federal income tax regulations. 
  • may be paid in part by the North Carolina Children with Disabilities Scholarship Grant  which awards reimbursement for tuition and special education and related services for each eligible child who is educated in a home school or nonpublic school. The amount of the grant is determined by the family's expenses but will not exceed $4,000.00 per semester.  PLEASE NOTE THAT ACCEPTING A DISABILITY GRANT MEANS THE STUDENT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BE ENROLLED IN PUBLIC SCHOOL.  
  • may be paid in part by need-based grants that are awarded by HSW.  Applicants should indicate interest in applying for these funds by checking the appropriate box on the admission application.

ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE

  • Parents should complete the Application Form and send it to the Admissions Office with the application fee as listed in the Schedule of Costs and Payments included with the application packet. ANNUAL DEADLINE FOR FIRST ROUND ADMISSION CONSIDERATION IS APRIL 1.  All subsequent applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.  
  • To be considered for Financial Aid  (Academic Year Program only), parents should apply at www.factstuitionaid.com.  These online applications must be completed by April 15 for the following school year.
  • Parents should fill in and send the following forms directly to the appropriate persons, agencies, clinics, The application process will be complete after the Admissions Office has received all information (as requested in No. 2). 

a.  Request for Release of School Information

b.  Request for Release of Diagnostic/Psychological Information (e.g., WISC IV, Educational Assessment, Social/Emotional Assessment)

c. Request for Release of Medical Information

d. Teacher Observation Forms (2)  

For Summer Program only applicants: Only one teacher observation form is required. If the child has Diagnostic/Psychological Information, please forward that information, but if not, it is not needed for the summer application.Parents should call The Hill School of Wilmington to schedule an admission's appointment for both parent and child.

  • Parents will be notified in writing of final admissions decision. The Enrollment Agreement and additional program information will be enclosed for those applicants accepted.
  • To confirm enrollment in the program once a student is accepted, parents should complete the Enrollment Agreement and send it to the Admissions Office with the tuition deposit. The student will be formally enrolled in the program upon receipt of the Enrollment Agreement and tuition deposit.
  • Statements of charges will be mailed from THE HILL SCHOOL OF WILMINGTON, INC. Payments should be made directly to THE HILL SCHOOL OF WILMINGTON, INC., 3240 Burnt Mill Drive, Suite 9A, Wilmington, North Carolina 28403.
